Polymarket and Kalshi, recorded for 4 days

Know when a market you hold changes its rules.

Polymarket and Kalshi edit the rules of markets people already hold, and neither tells the holders. RulesWatch keeps a copy of the rules of 105,609 markets, rereads them all day, and shows the words that changed, when, and what the price did. Watch your markets and you get a message on the next check.

Why it matters

One clarification, $3.8M of positions cleared

On June 1, 2026 Polymarket added a clarification to its MicroStrategy market, which had traded about $175M. It tied the outcome to the date a purchase was disclosed. The top Yes holder lost about $500,000: "It was not written down on the market." In the same dispute, a clarification after settlement cleared about $3.8M of Yes positions across 1,838 accounts. Nothing told the people holding it.

How it works

Neither venue tells holders when it edits a market. So I keep a copy of every market's rules and compare.

1

I save the rules

The rules text, resolution source, end date, title and UMA status of every market that traded in the last day: 105,609 right now.

2

I reread them

Every 5 minutes for watched markets, Kalshi markets as Kalshi updates them, busy Polymarket markets every hour or two. A changed fingerprint means an edit.

3

You get the diff

Removed words in red, added words in green, the window it happened in and the price. If you watch the market, the alert goes to Discord, a webhook or RSS.

The diff

Read the edit as sentences

A rewritten sentence shows the old phrase and the new phrase whole, so you can read both. Inline or side by side, with unchanged text folded down to the parts around the edit.

  • Word counts per field, added and removed
  • Dates and sources shown as before and after values
  • A share card with the same red and green for X and Discord

Alerts

A message within one check of the edit

Put a market on your watchlist, or paste your Polymarket wallet and I follow every open position. Each alert carries the market, the kind of edit and the changed lines, so you can decide without opening anything.

  • Discord, any JSON webhook, private RSS
  • One alert per edit, even when it hits a whole event
  • Quiet mode skips date moves and routine proposals

Questions

Why would the rules change after I bought?
Polymarket adds a clarification when the rules don't settle a case that came up: a recount, a postponed game, a source that stopped publishing. Kalshi edits contract terms and dates. Both say these edits only explain what the rules meant. Traders have lost money when an edit decided the outcome, as in the MicroStrategy market in June 2026.
How fast do I hear about an edit?
Markets on a watchlist are checked every 5 minutes. When an edit lands, the alert goes out on the same run or the next one. Kalshi's API lists the markets it updated, so most Kalshi edits show up within 10 minutes; on the busiest evenings I can't read every update and skip ahead. Busy Polymarket markets are reread every hour or two; quiet ones much less often, so put yours on a watchlist.
What does RulesWatch miss?
A clarification posted only on Discord or X, without an edit to the market, never reaches the API. Each market page has a box where traders link those, and watchers get an alert. If a market changes twice between two checks, I see only the end result. The time shown is when I noticed, inside a window I state.
Is every change a clarification?
No. Each change gets a label from what changed: a clarification, a rules edit, a new resolution source, moved dates, a renamed market, a disputed outcome. Routine steps, like an outcome proposed when a market ends or a target price filled in when a short market opens, are kept but left out of the default feed.
Why can't I see edits from before October 31?
Neither venue keeps old versions of its rules. I took the first snapshot of every open market on October 31, 2026, and every edit since is compared against it. A copy of this site started today would begin with an empty history.
Do I need an account?
No. A watchlist lives in your browser. Open it on another device with a private link, a passkey, or your Pro license key.
What does Pro cost?
$12, paid once. It removes the one-market limit, follows your Polymarket wallet, adds webhook alerts and CSV or JSON export. If it isn't useful, ask within 14 days for a full refund.
Are you part of Polymarket or Kalshi?
No. RulesWatch reads their public APIs and isn't affiliated with either venue, or with UMA. The rules on the venue's own page are the ones that count.

The count is not over. Watch the races you hold.

Recounts, runoffs and late calls are the cases clarifications get written for. 105,609 markets are on record, including every House, Senate and governor market on both venues.
